The Land of the Snow is a solo-project and a state of mind of Swiss musician Joel Gilardini (treated guitars, drums programming and electronics). The aim of the project is to explore the possibilities offered by combining and merging different musical languages in order to create something different and unpredictable. Another goal is to drag the listeners into a high emotional state and use music as a medium to explore and develop one's inner self.
After releasing an EP and other collaborations, Joel started to work on a new album in 2015 together with Jacopo Pierazzuoli on drums (Morkobot, Obake, Osso), and Eraldo Bernocchi at the mixing-desk (Sigillum S, Obake, Metallic Taste Of Blood, Osso, SIMM).
The Land Of The Snow has played many live shows including gigs opening for bands like Dysrhythmia (US), Signorina ?Alos (IT), Bruital Orgasme (BE), Impure Wilhelmina (CH) and Nebra (CH).
Joel is also well-known for his live ambient guitar sets as opener for Nik Bärtsch's Ronin (ECM) on regular basis in Zurich clubs, and is part of the noise/industrial project Mulo Muto (Zurich/CH).
Paths Of Chaos, out in early 2017 for Taxi Driver Records in CD, and digital tracks on Bandcamp from 28th February, explores new paths and summones the energies offered by Chaos to embark on a new quest.
Chaos has mostly always been seen as a negative principle, the origin of disorder and dissolution, a path without exit, along which you could only eventually get lost. But what happens if we consider Chaos as a generator of new possibilities? Like a pilgrim, along this explorative trip, Joel has experienced the thrill and the fear of his own inner feelings while testing new territories discovering new colors, languages and tastes.
The cover artwork has been curated by Italian visual artist Petulia Mattioli (who already collaborated with Joel in 2012 and also worked with musicians such Bill Laswell, Nils Petter Molvear, Eraldo Bernocchi, Thomas Fehlmann and many more).
